BA Fine Art. Art tutor/lecturer
My first love is the landscape, particularly the coast and water, in all weathers, times and seasons - constantly changing. I use a wide variety of media, frequently mixing them - oils, watercolours, pastells, coloured pencils, watersoluble pencils and crayons, graphite, ink, digital imagery and photography and occasionally printmaking with etching or collagraphs.. Work plein air in sketchbooks leads on to larger work in the studio or sometimes digital images.
Sketchbooks are a really important tool for me - from research sketches to jotting down ideas or simply studying objects like the feathers and cardoons shown here because of their interesting textures and shapes
Recently I have become interested in illustration - the sketch of the little boy on the beach below was for a book for my grandchildren about a family holiday. You can see more illustration work on my blog at this link http://vivienb.blogspot.co.uk/p/illustrated-abc.html.
