Born 1949 Islington I spent most of my youth in London I have also lived in Harrogate in North Yorkshire and Cullen in the north east of Scotland I studied ceramics and glass at Southport Art College where I also lived for six years. I later moved to Devon where until recently I taught pottery to children part time.
I now live in a old farmhouse where I have converted one of the barns to a workshop and studio. I am particulary interested in the changing moods and patterns of the sky and landscape particulary on Exmoor and Dartmoor. The elements of nature and time that create the journey of erosion by age and decay in both our natural and architectural environment inspire my work. I make individual pieces by hand and they are mainly non functional low fired and smoked, the colours are natural using oxides, plants, wood sawdust and straw.
