Having grown up and studied on the west coast of Scotland, my imagination has always been fired by the vast landscapes and beauty of the Highlands, especially the many Islands of the Hebrides. I’ve lived in England for many years and seem to have adapted my Landscapes to the altogether different, land-locked beauty of the Cotswolds. The colours and textures which I see every day are profoundly influenced by the vibrant colours and textures of the far North. The marks and the light on the hillsides, fields and mountains are a constant source of inspiration. These marks have also taken me on a new and parallel journey into Abstract and semi-Abstract painting, which allows me to experiment with colours and textures, creating a freedom to express inner visual images on the canvas. Each painting is a journey which can take various routes. The initial idea can take off in a different direction, which is exciting and challenging, often resulting in a surprising final destination! Working mainly with Acrylics, using Mixed Media, Pastels and Inks on Board, Paper and Canvas, I build the images with many layers which all add to the texture and atmosphere of the paintings. I have exhibited extensively in Galleries and Exhibitions from the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, throughout Warwickshire, the Cotswolds and London. I live and work from my Studio on the edge of the Cotswolds. To find out more about my work, please have a look at my Website and feel free to contact me:- www.heatherbaileyart.co.uk
