Since my childhood I have always loved the seaside, the views, the atmosphere, and the sound of the sea. For the last 10 years the Suffolk coast has continued to inspire and influence the direction of my artwork.
As a collage artist, this theme is great fun to explore using a wide variety of mediums. I like to use as many different kinds of paper as possible in my work including gift bags, postcards, beer mats and fish & chip bags from the relevant areas. I feel this helps to convey the wide variety of different textures and wonderful subjects found at the beach, everything from rusty bits and bobs, nets, rope, to weathered wooden huts, boats drifting in the sea or derelict half buried in the sand.
I love the depth of textures and effects created through adding layer upon layer, combining photography with my own hand rendered illustrations to convey the mood and emotions connected with each trip. Driftwood and found objects are also a passion of mine and have featured heavily in my artwork.
If you like any of the original artwork in my collection which has already been sold, there are also digital prints available to buy if you would like to get in touch http://www.cuttingclouds.co.uk
